The Great Wall, China

The Great Wall, China
Called the Wanli Changchen in modern Chinese, the Great Wall has become to symbolize China itself. It was built during the Ming Dynasty, and stretches over an unbelievable 6,700 km (4,160 miles). Along the Great Wall, a watchtower was built every hundred meters, serving as advance defensive posts to protect the qall. Smoke signals were used in the day and fires were lit at night to communicate with other military outposts along the wall.
The rare image not only displays amazing depth, but also illustrates the manner in which the wall hugs the terrain as it meanders it way across numerous province.
